Bloggers Block

Finally.... every few days for the last month I have opened my blog and stared at the screen racking my brain for a topic to comment on. Every time I drew a blank. I have a big mouth and a lot to say (whether or not it's relevant is another story). But I just haven't posted anything. I have Bloggers Block!

I have this fear of coming across as an idiot or something. Or I'll post something and it will be my view at the time and somebody will comment 6 weeks from now. And my opinion will have changed and I'll look like a hypocrite.

Does anyone else have these fears or am I just over analyzing all of this. Should I just put the pen to the paper and spew out what ever is on my mind. Please advise.

  1. Kevin,

I totally understand where you are coming from. Sometimes you want to post, but you just can't seem to find the right topic to write about. One thing that I have learned (and will talk about in the blogging session) is that my blog posts have worked best when they are organic in nature. What I mean is that while they will be posted for possibly eternity, each individual post is just a glimpse into that moment. Therefore it's simply an opportunity to voice all of those things that go on in your mind that you'd like to get out, but time doesn't allow you to verbalize. Always be aware of what you are saying (it is a permanent record), but yes write what your thinking. Try to relate it to the theme of your blog, in this case Globaloria, but the big idea is to communicate and build a center for discussion, reflection, and community learning. Keep it up man - you are way ahead of where I was a year ago!!!

    Jim

  2. Hey Kevin, I know we are encouraged to Blog for Globaloria and it seems almost like a life-style change to incorporate it. I am not used to "stopping, reflecting and blogging". As for all new skills, it feels a little strange. I do believe that we have an encouraging and sympathetic audience in this Globaloria community. I'm going to try to use this new tool. Jim is a great role-model! Liz

  3. Kevin, you are not alone in this kind of feeling. When you first start blogging it can feel daunting trying to sound wise and wonderful through the written word. Keep in mind though, this is about your thoughts and processes, so you are always the wisest in those regards. If you find it hard to find a topic to blog about, work through the tutorials and then either brag on yourself a bit, show off your work, or even talk about something that gave you trouble. You can also think of what kind of games you want your kids to aim for and blog about your thoughts on that topic. Either way, its like rolling a boulder downhill. It can take a bit to get it started but once the big rock is on a roll...watch out.

  5. Hey--throw your fears to the wind and let us know what you think at the time. As a mentor it helps me relate to the time. Once you learn the program and other factors then your opinions and thoughts to change. It is part of the process. Blog on!
